{"id":2803,"date":"2016-08-29T16:36:40","date_gmt":"2016-08-29T15:36:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amdf-centre.org\/?p=2803"},"modified":"2026-07-05T20:23:23","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T19:23:23","slug":"conference-on-internet-freedom-holds-in-kampala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amdf-centre.org\/2016\/08\/29\/conference-on-internet-freedom-holds-in-kampala\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference on Internet Freedom Holds in Kampala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Individuals including Journalists interested in internet freedom are invited to the 2016 edition of the Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa, starting Sept. 27 to 29 in Kampala, Uganda<\/p>\n<p>The programme will be hosted by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cipesa.org\/\">Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Topics of discussion include\u00a0the growing presence of online violence against women;\u00a0combating hate speech and violations of freedom of expression;\u00a0empowering media as infomediaries and advocates of digital rights, among others.<\/p>\n<p>This year, a series of discussions focus on developments, as well as explore new issues affecting internet freedom in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Participants include journalists, bloggers, academia, human rights activists, government officials, developers,\u00a0and others to discuss\u00a0matters related to upholding internet freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Support towards transportation is available upon request.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is free.
