Fyneface, Onengiyeofori is a reporter with the Nigerian Television\u00a0Authority (NTA) Network Centre, Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n
He hails from Abonnema\/ Idama in Akuku- Toru Local Government area of\u00a0Rivers State, South-south Nigeria<\/p>\n
His experience in media practice started as a Youth Corps member in\u00a02007. Fyneface served as a presenter of a radio programme: Corps\u00a0Rendezvous, on Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS.<\/p>\n
Afterwards he joined the NTA in 2009 as a reporter and has since\u00a0practiced journalism full time.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy experience spans the entire fulcrum of television news and\u00a0television production which include:

\nNewscasting
\nDocumentary production
\nProgrammes presentation
\nNon- Linear (Video editing)
\nCamera operations
\nMedia marketing
\nMedia relations services, and other sundry activities.<\/p>\n
I have served as Press Secretary to some Local Government Chairmen and\u00a0even the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. I have also\u00a0managed the media for the campaign organizations of some aspiring\u00a0political office holders in the state\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrimarily, my daily reportorial task revolves around roving as a\u00a0general reporter and covering of specific events. I had covered two\u00a0beats in the past: politics and defense. My main area of interest,\u00a0however, is rural reporting- one I have done with relish, especially\u00a0in bringing rural development issues to the front burner for media
\ndiscuss. Rural reporting has also been the focus of my academic\u00a0endeavours with a Master’s thesis and a PhD dissertation on going on\u00a0the subject matter\u201d.<\/p>\n
His most difficult report was \u201cthe political drama of the Rivers State\u00a0House of Assembly which ended as a free for all fracas and nearly\u00a0swallowed me in the mess of political interests in the state. I hope
\nnever again to be caught up with such political insanity\u201d.<\/p>\n
For green horns and hopefuls in journalism, he has this to say:
\n\u201cjournalism in Nigeria is a thankless job; it lacks the standard legal\u00a0framework to qualify as a profession, it is bereft of a system\u00a0conducive for objectivity and has no protection for its practitioners,\u00a0as such, be ready to face difficult times and work hard- real hard to\u00a0carve a niche for yourself otherwise, you’d be swallowed in the poll
\nof mediocrity biting deep into the practice\u201d.
