{"id":5400,"date":"2019-07-03T14:30:35","date_gmt":"2019-07-03T13:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amdf-centre.org\/?p=5400"},"modified":"2026-07-05T19:51:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T18:51:18","slug":"conference-focuses-on-internet-freedom-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amdf-centre.org\/2019\/07\/03\/conference-focuses-on-internet-freedom-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference Focuses on Internet Freedom [Africa]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Journalists and others interested in internet freedom are invited to this event.<\/p>\n<p>The Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA) will host the Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa (#FIFAfrica19) Sept. 23 to 26 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>The event brings together human rights defenders, journalists, government officials, bloggers, developers, representatives from academia and others to discuss matters related to upholding internet freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Topics include gaps, concerns and opportunities for advancing privacy, access to information, free expression, non-discrimination, the free flow of information online on the African continent and more.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in need of travel support must apply by July 31.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for session proposals is July 31.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is free.
